Installing the Low Profile Mud Flaps
Before you start
- Turn the front wheels to give yourself better access to the wheel well you're working on.
- Look at the holes in the wheel arch trim. If there are no mud flaps on the car yet, the factory trim clips will still be in place and must come out first (see "Removing the factory trim clips" below).
- Separate each supplied trim clip into its two parts: the outer plug and the center pin.
Removing the factory trim clips
- Work the tip of the supplied removal tool behind the head of the clip and pry the center pin up out of the plug.
- Get the tool behind the whole clip and pry it out of the hole. You may need to angle the tool around the tire to reach it.
- Repeat for the other clip in that wheel arch.
Front mud flaps
- Hold the mud flap up to the wheel arch and snap its clips around the edge of the arch trim, one at a time. They need a firm push to seat.
- Slide the flap down until its two lower holes line up with the holes in the trim.
- Push an outer plug through the flap and into each trim hole.
- Push a center pin into each plug to flare it out and lock it. If a pin won't go fully home by hand, tap it in with light taps from a hammer or a similar tool.
- Check the flap sits flat against the trim from both sides, then repeat on the other front wheel.
Rear mud flaps
- Hold the mud flap in position against the rear wheel arch and clip it around the arch trim at both points.
- Push an outer plug through each hole in the flap and into the trim hole behind it.
- Push the center pins in to lock the clips. The rear clips sit behind the tire, so you may have to work by feel.
- Repeat on the other rear wheel. The procedure is the same, just mirrored.
