Cybertruck delivery checklist
A free Tesla Cybertruck delivery inspection checklist for your phone: a 29-item quick check or the full 86, photos of anything wrong, and a report to show your delivery advisor. Works with no signal.
Before you go
- Ask your advisor how long you have to report issues. Tesla does not publish a deadline and it can vary by service center, so ask at collection and note the answer and the advisor's name. Whatever you are told, aim to report everything in the Tesla app within 24 hours.
- Check your VIN for open recalls and delivery holds. Once a VIN is assigned, look it up on NHTSA's recall page and in the Tesla app. Ask the advisor to confirm all recall work is done before handover and to note it on the paperwork.
- Bring a small inspection kit. Phone with the Tesla app signed in, flashlight, microfiber cloth, a USB-C cable, a song you know well, and this checklist. Optional: a small 120V device (phone charger or lamp to check the outlets), a second EV or 240V tool for the outlet load test later. Also bring your driver's license, proof of insurance, payment confirmation, and any trade-in with its keys.
- Plan to inspect in daylight and record a walk-around video. Arrive early. Ask to look over the exterior before signing. Record one continuous video around the truck that includes the odometer and the delivery bay, so later finds can be shown to be pre-existing. If at all possible, try to avoid collection when it's raining or dark.
At delivery
- VIN on the truck matches the paperwork. Compare the VIN on your purchase agreement with the VIN plate visible through the windshield and the VIN on the touchscreen (Controls > Software). Photograph the odometer at the same time. Check your name, address and registration details on the paperwork too.
- Ordered and promised accessories present. Check every accessory on the order: Wall Connector, Powershare gear, Terrestrial Armor fitted, tool kit. Foundation Series: D-rings, L-track hooks, gear locker dividers, roof sunshade, console tray, Cyberbeast light bar. Get anything missing written on the due bill.
- Every driver is added to the truck in the Tesla app. Have the advisor add each driver, or do it in the app under Security & Drivers, while you are still there.
- No deep scratches, gouges, dents or sharp edges in the stainless. Walk around in good light and look along each panel from a low angle. If a fingernail catches in a mark it is deep. Pay extra attention to the hood, door edges, sails and tailgate. Wipe a suspect spot with a damp microfiber. Fingerprints, water spots, oily film and orange specks (rail dust) are cleanable contamination. Etching, scratches or color change that stays are defects to log. Run a finger along panel and glass edges for sticky spots. Small spots usually come off; note large or widespread residue. Look closely at panel edges; touch only lightly. Tesla's manual warns to use caution around Cybertruck panel edges.
- No sanding swirls or patches that reflect light differently. Look for areas where the grain or shine changes, a sign of rework during prep. Check for panel-matching on adjacent panels. Ensure no rippling on the large rear-quarter panels. Photograph them from an angle that shows the difference.
- Hood (frunk lid) gaps even and flush with both fenders. Compare the gap on left and right, front and back. The lid should not sit sunken or proud of the fenders. Tesla can adjust it with bump stops.
- Front light bar sits evenly in its gap and lights with no dark segments. Check the gap between the light bar and the panel above and below it is the same at both ends. Turn the lights on from Controls > Lights and walk to the front. The whole bar should light evenly.
- No condensation or cracks in the light bars and lamps. Look inside the front light bar, headlights, rear light bar and taillights for moisture or cracks.
- All exterior lights work, front and rear light bars included. Use Controls > Lights and the steering wheel buttons; walk around the truck. A helper makes this quick. Have someone press the brake and use each turn signal while you watch the tailgate. Every segment should light.
- Front fascia, rear bumper and hitch cover undamaged and secure. Look along the front stainless panel below the light bar. 2026 builds may show a small raised spot-weld mark that owners say is by design; compare with other trucks on the lot. Check the rear bumper for scratches and dings. The hitch cover is held by three turn clips and should sit flush. Check the front tow hook covers and the speaker grille too.
- Powered frunk opens, closes and latches; tub and seal in good order. Open with the touchscreen, the app and the button under the hood edge. Close with the touchscreen or button (don't push it shut by hand). Then try to lift the front edge: it must not move. Check the tub for cracks and debris, that the seal compresses evenly all round, and that the interior emergency release button is present.
- Windshield free of chips, cracks and optical distortion. Sit in each front seat and look through the windshield at straight lines (lane markings, building edges) while moving your head. Wavy or bending lines mean distortion. Also look for chips.
- Wiper clears the whole windshield, parks correctly, and the washers spray. Spray washer fluid (hold the wiper button) and run each speed. The single blade should cover the glass without skipping or chattering and return to its rest marks. It should not touch the trim.
- Door gaps even and doors flush with the body. Check each door's gap top to bottom and that its surface lines up with the fender and sail. Open and close to see it pulls fully shut.
- Every door opens from its outside button and inside button, and closes fully. Press the button on the pillar beside each door, then the button at the top of each interior handle. Close by pushing, not slamming. The window should drop slightly as the door opens and seal back up when it closes. Rear doors should open fully, and the hinges should be clean and quiet.
- Door and window seals fully seated and undamaged. Open each door and run along the seals. Look for torn, loose or missing sections and for paint or marker on the seals.
- Side mirrors intact and fold, adjust and dim. Check the glass and housing. Fold and unfold from Controls, adjust with the left scroll button, and make sure there is no grinding.
- Side windows and B-pillar glass panels unscratched and uncracked. Check every side window and the glass panels behind the doors that hold the door button and camera.
- Cant rails (roofline trim over the doors) secure and flush. Look along the stainless strip above each door for gaps or lifting. If your truck was built before 27 Feb 2025, confirm the cant rail recall repair has been done. Pay attention to where each rail meets the front fender - they should be flush with the fender.
- Sail panels flush, not lifting, and unscratched. Check the black plastic panels running from the roof down beside the bed on both sides. Press gently and apply gentle upward force at the ends: nothing should flex or click.
- Fender flares and rocker fairings free of scuffs, cracks and patchy dressing. Check the black plastic wheel-arch flares and the fairings along the bottom of the doors. Look for gouges and blotchy trim-restorer used to hide marks. Include the mudflaps if fitted.
- Charge port door opens, sits flush and closes. The port is above the driver's side rear wheel. Open it from the touchscreen or app; the Cybertruck logo lights white. Don't force the door. It closes by itself after a few minutes if nothing is plugged in.
- Wheels and tires undamaged; aero covers and valve caps present. Check each rim. On 18in Aero wheels, ask staff to remove a cover the right way (shown in the on-screen tutorial) to inspect the rim beneath. Count four covers and check none rattle or sit crooked. Look at each valve stem. Check the size and type match your order and look at each sidewall and tread.
- Glass roof intact with even seals. Look at the roof glass from a step or ladder if one is offered (or climb into the vault). Check for cracks and that seals sit evenly along both edges. Check for sealant that's oozed too much.
- Roof mounting point covers all present. Look along both sides of the roof: every cover over the roof-rack mounting points should be there and sit flush. Trucks built from May 2025 on other trims have no covers: the mounts are hidden under the trim.
- Underside and front lower area free of transport damage. Use the flashlight to look under the front and rear and behind the wheels. Look for bent covers, loose fasteners and fresh scrapes.
- Tailgate and bed sides: gaps even, panels flush, nothing loose. With the tailgate closed, compare left and right gaps and check it is flush with the bed sides. Press the tailgate applique gently for movement. Check the gaps around the bed sides, the charge port door and the rear corners are even.
- Hitch receiver clean and undamaged. Remove the hitch cover (three turn clips, use a plastic trim tool) and look at the receiver and the trailer connector. A ball mount is not included.
- Tonneau slats complete and even, and all its seals present. With it closed, check no slat is missing, dented or scratched, the cover sits level side to side, and the last slat just meets the tailgate seal. Check the rubber seal where the tonneau meets the rear glass/aero flap and the bottom seals on each side. Look for any gap between tonneau and rear glass.
- Tonneau opens and closes fully from every control, with no Calibrate prompt. Use the exterior switches by the tailgate, the touchscreen (Controls > Tonneau) and the app. It should run smoothly without grinding and stop only at the ends. Note: once the truck locks, the cover locks wherever it is, and Car Left Open alerts may not cover it. If it stops short or a Calibrate button appears on the touchscreen, run Calibrate and retest. Manual method: hold Open until it stalls fully open, then hold Close until it stalls fully closed. If it recurs, log it. Try stopping it part-way too.
- Tailgate releases, lowers gently and latches; interior release present. Release with the exterior switch and the touchscreen. Struts should lower it slowly. Lift from the bottom with both hands, press it firmly closed, then pull to check it is latched. No tailgate warning should remain. On the inside of the tailgate, flip up the cover and check the pull strap is there. Don't pull it.
- Vault free of gouges and blotchy discoloration. Look at the vault floor, walls and tailgate in daylight. Note deep gouges and patchy dark or greenish areas from trim dressing.
- Bed lights work; tie-downs and L-track present and secure. Set Bed Lights to On (Controls > Lights) or open the tailgate with lights on Auto. Both full-length strips should light. Check the front and rear tie-downs and attachment points. Premium AWD and Cyberbeast also have L-track rails along the top of the bed sides.
- Under-bed gear locker opens, latches, seals and has its drain plug. Open the lid; struts should hold it. Check the seal and that the drain plug is fitted (turn counter-clockwise and pull up to remove). Close by pushing down until it latches. Check for any rust around exposed bolts.
- Mobile Connector included. It is normally in the under-bed gear locker ("Smuggler's Bay"), not the frunk. Check it is there. Tesla includes the Mobile Connector but no outlet adapters.
- Front license plate bracket and hardware supplied (if your state needs a front plate). Owners report the front plate bracket stored in the under-bed gear locker (aka smugglers bay!). Ask the advisor where it is if you can't find it. Check the temporary plate is fitted, and that you have the paperwork for the permanent one.
- Two key cards handed over, and both lock, unlock and start the truck. Tesla supplies two Cybertruck key cards. Get both before you leave; they are tested later. Tap each card on the reader about a third of the way up the driver's door pillar, then on a wireless charger pad inside to authorize driving.
- J1772 adapter in the glovebox. It's normally in the glovebox. If it's missing, ask for it before you leave.
- USB drive fitted in the glovebox USB-A port. Open the glovebox and check a flash drive is plugged in (used for Dashcam and Sentry Mode).
- Tire pressures correct and even. Controls > Service shows each tire. Tesla's normal-load figure is 50 psi front and rear for the 20in all-season, 20in all-terrain and 18in all-season tires. The display may need a short drive to populate.
- Dash, doors, console and pillar trim free of scuffs and gaps; lids close cleanly. Look over every interior surface, including B-pillar trim at the door openings. Open and close each console compartment and the glovebox.
- Headliner clean, unscratched and tucked in. Check the Alcantara headliner for scratches, pulls and greasy fingerprints, and that its edges are tucked. Check the sun visors, rear-view mirror and coat hooks too. Include the vanity mirrors.
- Front seats free of tears, stains and uneven stitching; all adjustments work. Inspect both front seats, then run every adjustment including lumbar.
- Rear bench free of tears and stains; seat cushions fold up and latch down. Inspect the bench. The rear bench is stationary, but the cushions lift for storage underneath: fold each up and back down. Raise and lower the center head support. Fold the rear armrest down and back up.
- Every seat belt latches, releases and retracts. Buckle and release each belt and let it retract fully.
- Trim, options, price and badges match your order. Check Controls > Software for the trim name. Foundation Series trucks have laser-etched badges and cabin graphics. Cyberbeast is tri-motor; AWD trims are dual motor. Check the final price, wheels, Terrestrial Armor (if ordered), FSD and any accessories line by line. Save a screenshot of your order: trim (Dual Motor AWD, Premium AWD or Cyberbeast), wheels, interior, FSD, Luxe Package, Foundation Series, accessories. Trim decides which features you can test (air suspension, rear screen, L-track, gear locker, rear light bar). Ask for, or download, copies of the signed agreement and the registration paperwork.
- Purchased software features are active. On the touchscreen (Controls > Software) confirm FSD (Supervised) if bought. Cyberbeast orders placed 21 Aug 2025 to 19 Feb 2026 got the Luxe Package: FSD, free Supercharging, Premium Connectivity. Confirm they show on the account.
- Software is current and any delivery work is recorded. Check Controls > Software for the version and release notes. Ask whether updates or recall work were done during prep. Check the truck shows a cellular connection.
- Front touchscreen responsive and sitting flush in its bezel. Tap all areas of the screen, open several apps and check for lag, dead zones, stuck pixels, and any gap between screen and bezel.
- Rear touchscreen responsive and controls rear climate. From the back seat use the rear screen for climate and media.
- Steering wheel buttons respond; wheel adjusts and heats. Test turn signals, high beam, horn (center pad), wiper, camera and voice buttons and both scroll wheels. Some are touch-sensitive with haptic feedback rather than physical switches. Also check a touchscreen restart (hold both scroll buttons while parked). Touch Controls > Steering icon and use the left scroll button to tilt and move the wheel. Turn on the heated wheel from climate.
- Backup gear selector on the overhead console works. Parked, foot on the brake: briefly press both scroll buttons together. P, R, N, D should light on the overhead console. Press P.
- All camera views clear, aligned and undamaged; rear view appears in Reverse. Open the Camera app and check the tailgate (rear) camera, front bumper camera, door-pillar cameras and the cameras above each front wheel. Images should be sharp, level and not distorted. Check the lenses for scratches. Shift to Reverse (foot on brake) and check the rear camera shows within a second or two. Run the front camera washer and check it clears the lens.
- Air conditioning and heat both work at full power without odd noises. Set full cold, then full hot, and feel every front and rear vent. Try the defroster and the heated mirrors.
- Seat heaters (and ventilation where fitted) work. Turn each one on from climate controls and feel the seat.
- All four windows run up and down smoothly and quietly. Use each switch, full and partial travel. Then open each door: the window should drop slightly and reseal when closed. Check the window lock and child locks.
- Air suspension changes height smoothly, with no warning. Parked, clear of obstacles above and below: Controls > ride height. Step through Entry, Low, Medium and High. The truck should move evenly, and the compressor noise is normal. Check there is no yellow or red suspension indicator or alert after the height test and on the drive home.
- Steer-by-wire and rear-wheel steering work without noise or warnings. Parked or creeping: turn lock to lock and have a helper watch the rear wheels turn too. Listen for squeaks or grinding and check for steering alerts.
- Phone key works: unlock on approach, lock on walk-away. Pair your phone as a key in the app. Walk away with Walk-Away Lock on and check it locks (lights flash); walk back and press a door button.
- App controls work: lock, frunk, tonneau, climate, charge port, outlets. From the app, try each control while standing near the truck.
First 24 hours
- Inspect again after the first wash, in daylight. Washing your truck is by far the best way to spot any defects in alignment or bodywork. Try to do this in the first 24 hours, and take photos of any new issues for the due bill.
- No water in the cabin, and the bed mostly dry, after rain or a wash. After rain or a hand wash, check door bottoms, footwells and the headliner edges near the roof glass. With the tonneau closed, run a garden hose (not a pressure washer) over the rear glass and cover, then look for pooling at the front corners near the rear glass and at the tailgate.
- Bed outlets give power. Open the tailgate, pull the left side of the outlet cover on the left of the bed (outlets are dead unless the cover is open), enable Controls > Outlets & Mods, and plug a small 120V device into each 120V outlet. Check the 240V outlet is undamaged.
- Cabin power works: USB-C ports, wireless chargers and 120V outlets. One port in the front console, two below the rear screen on the back of the console. Enable Controls > Outlets & Mods and plug a small device into the outlet in the center console and the one below the rear screen. Place a phone on each pad with the truck on. Remove any card from your phone case first.
- Interior lights work: dome, rear dome, footwell, accent. Toggle each from Controls > Lights and press the dome lenses. Change accent light color and brightness. Include the glovebox and console lights.
- Every speaker plays cleanly; Bluetooth calls and microphone work. Play a track you know. Use balance and fade to isolate each speaker and turn it up: listen for buzzing or distortion. Pair your phone, make a call and ask the other person how you sound.
- Dashcam and Sentry Mode record to the USB drive. Turn on Sentry Mode and Dashcam, save a clip, then view it on the screen.
- No active alerts after the first drives. Tap the alerts (bell) icon on the touchscreen and photograph any alert names or codes to include in a service request.
- Set up your profile and charging. Save your seat, mirror and steering positions to a driver profile; set the charge limit and schedule; add home and work; choose your Autopilot settings.
- Home charging works with the Mobile Connector. Plug the Mobile Connector into the wall first, then the truck. The latch should lock, the port light pulse green, and the screen show charging.
- Supercharge once and learn how to park for the cable. Use the truck's navigation to pick a Supercharger. Older stalls have short cables, so park close to the stall on the driver's side; V4 stalls have longer cables.
- No wind noise, whine, rattles or squeaks on the drive home. On a quiet highway at 50-70 mph listen at the doors, mirrors and roof. A whine or drill-like hum that changes between acceleration and coasting is worth logging. Drive over bumps with the radio off. Listen at seats, console, doors, tailgate and tonneau.
- Brakes, regen and steering feel normal; no pull. Check firm brakes, smooth regen on lift-off, straight tracking on a level road and no alerts.
- Traffic-Aware Cruise Control and FSD (if bought) engage. On a suitable road, press the right scroll button and confirm it engages and adjusts speed. Check the blind-spot indicators light when a car is beside you.
- Headlights and Auto High Beam work at night. Drive somewhere dark: check low and high beams and that Auto High Beam switches.
First week
- Tonneau, tailgate and trim still tight and quiet after a week. Re-check tonneau seals, the closed gap at the front and tailgate fit. Recalibrate if it starts stopping short. After a few temperature swings, listen for rattles at speed from the roofline and press the cant rails and sails gently.
- 240V bed outlet holds a real load. If you have a way to draw 25-35A at 240V (for example a second EV on a Mobile Connector set to 32A), run it for 15 minutes. It should not trip below the 40A rating.
- Trailer lights and brake controller work (if you tow). Hook up a trailer, run the Trailer Light Test and calibrate the trailer brakes as the manual describes.
- You know where the manual door releases are. Front: the release in front of the window switches. Rear: a cable under the rubber mat in the rear door map pocket. Check they are there; don't use them (the window won't drop and trim can be damaged).
- Off-road modes and lockers engage (if you'll use them). In a safe place select Overland and check ride height goes to High/Very High and lockers engage without warnings.
- Read the owner's manual and watch the Tesla tutorials. The manual is on the touchscreen and at tesla.com/ownersmanual. Read the cargo bed, tonneau, outlets and normal operating sounds pages first.
- Learn stainless care before the first wash. Remove bird droppings, sap, tar and road salt quickly. Hand wash with pH-neutral car shampoo, rinse, and dry. Avoid harsh cleaners: damage from cleaning products isn't covered by warranty.
