Please watch the video below, and don't forget to freeze the vinyl before installing to make the process even easier!

Installing the steering wheel wrap

  1. Put the vinyl in the freezer for about 10 minutes before you start. This makes it more rigid and much easier to line up over the button icons, especially with the thinner vinyls such as satin white.
  2. Work in a cool indoor space if you can. Avoid having air conditioning or a fan blowing directly on the vinyl while you install it.
  3. Wash your hands. You will be touching the back of the vinyl, and clean hands keep grease and dirt off the adhesive.
  4. Clean the steering wheel surfaces with the supplied alcohol wipes. Wipe gently so you don't press the buttons, particularly the screen wash. With thicker vinyls like matrix black or carbon fiber you only need the surface generally clean; with thinner vinyls remove any dust specks.
  5. Start with the bottom section. Line it up along the bottom edge first and anchor it there.
  6. Work up one side, guiding the vinyl so it covers the metal and tucks up inside the aluminum trim. Repeat on the other side.
  7. Press the bottom piece down with your fingertips, working from the anchored edge outward. If you get a crease, peel that area back and lay it down again.
  8. Finish the bottom section with the squeegee to work out any air bubbles.
  9. Take the left panel piece and peel it off its backing. Peel carefully so you don't stretch the vinyl.
  10. Hold the piece over the left panel without sticking it down. Looking straight at the wheel, line up all three icons, the scroll wheel cutout, and the small detent marking. Drift the piece into position, tucking it in behind the horn area.
  11. When everything lines up, touch it into place with your finger.
  12. Squeegee the panel down. Keep the strokes brief so you don't hold a button long enough to trigger it. Roll the bottom edge under with your thumb so it wraps over.
  13. Repeat for the right panel. On a Highland Model 3 this side also has the two indicator arrows to line up. If you'd rather not touch the back of the vinyl, use the edge of the squeegee to nudge it into position.
  14. Once the piece is aligned and stuck down, check it still looks right, then squeegee it out. You can press harder on this panel. Roll the bottom edge under and finish with the squeegee.
  15. If bubbles remain, peel that section back and lay it down again.
