Mudflaps
Each piece in the kit is labeled, and the kit includes a printed instruction sheet showing where each piece goes. Check the sheet to identify the driver's side and passenger side pieces before you start.
- Clean the mudflap surface. If it's heavily soiled, wash it with a soap solution first, then finish with isopropyl alcohol to remove any wax or residue and prep the surface.
- Raise the truck to its highest suspension setting to make the mudflaps easier to reach. You can also remove the mudflaps from the truck and do the install off the vehicle if you prefer.
- Peel the backing from the piece.
- Line up the straight edge of the piece with the straight edge of the mudflap. Get this edge right and the rest of the piece falls into place.
- Stay just inside the soft rounded edge of the mudflap rather than rolling the film over it. Wrapping that edge only traps dirt underneath.
- Keep a small, even gap around the outer edge of the mudflap. The ABS mudflaps flex a lot in use, so the film needs room to move.
- Hold tension on the film with your free hand and squeegee the main face into place.
- Work around onto the underside angle. Press the corner down with your fingers to make sure it bonds, then squeegee it.
- Bring the film up over the top area of the mudflap and squeegee that section.
- Wrap the last section around the back edge and squeegee it down. You'll be working by feel here.
- Repeat for the remaining mudflap. On the front mudflap, run the edge of the film just inside the radius at the leading edge, keeping it straight and below the fold along the top.
