Please refer to the video below. For the carbon fiber effect clamshell covers, be sure to pay attention to the seam that faces you, to ensure the edges are touching so that the un-patterned area is not visible.

Installing the stalk covers

Real carbon fiber covers (clip-on)

  1. Hold the cover over the stalk so it lines up with the painted and printed area you want to hide.
  2. Snap the cover onto the stalk. No glue or adhesive is used.
  3. Check the position. If the cover sits too close to the end of the stalk, slide it back along the stalk until it looks right.
  4. Repeat on the other stalk.

These covers pull straight off again if you want to reposition them or swap finishes. On the underside, where the cover wraps around to clip on, you can feel a small edge. That is normal.

Carbon fiber effect covers (two-piece clamshell)

These have 3M tape on the back. The bottom piece is optional — you can fit the top piece alone if you prefer.

  1. Peel the backing off the tape on the top piece.
  2. Set the top piece over the stalk, starting at the inboard end and lining up the edge, then lay it down along the length of the stalk. Keep it back from the end of the stalk so it does not cover the button.
  3. Press along the cover wherever the tape sits so it takes.
  4. Peel the backing off the tape on the bottom piece.
  5. Tuck the bottom piece up underneath the stalk, again starting at the inboard end.
  6. Line up the seam on the face of the stalk that you see from the driver's seat, so the two edges touch and no un-patterned area shows.
  7. Grip the cover and apply pressure so the tape takes.
  8. Repeat on the other stalk.
