You'd think it'll be easy to know what screen size you have, but visually the 15.4-inch and 16-inch screens are virtually identical. But luckily, there are a few ways you can be more certain about it. The best way is to watch the very short video below:

Otherwise, please refer to this FAQ.

Which screen size does my Model Y have: 15.4-inch or 16-inch?

The easiest way to tell is not by measuring the screen. Instead, check your headliner color. In nearly all cases, Model Y vehicles with the older light gray headliner have the 15.4-inch screen, while newer 2026 vehicles with the black headliner usually have the 16-inch screen.

I have a black headliner. Which screen do I likely have?

If your Model Y has a black Alcantara headliner, you most likely have the newer 16-inch display, especially on 2026 Premium or Performance builds and many newer-market deliveries.

My Model Y is a 2026 model year, delivered in 2025. What screen do I have?

Almost certainly the 15.4-inch screen. There may be a few exceptions, especially if you're not in North America, so you should still check, but generally speaking, the 16-inch screen did not start to appear until early 2026.

My Model Y is the pre-refresh (2020-2025) version. What screen do I have?

Without doubt, you have a 15.4-inch screen. The 16-inch screen did not start appearing in Model Y until the 2026 refreshed version. If you have the original center console (piano black finish), then you'll need this version. If you have the the second-generation center console with the rear screen, you'll need this version.

Is there any way I can tell visually?

If the bottom edge of your screen has a slight curve to it, it's the 15.4-inch version. If it's completely straight, you have the 16-inch version. That's really the only way to tell visually, as side by side they're virtually identical in terms of display size.

I’m still not sure. What should I do?
