Installing the B-Pillar Emblems
- Open both doors on the side you are working on so you have clear access to the B-pillar.
- Clean the indent in the B-pillar with an isopropyl wipe. This area can still carry wax from the factory, so clean it even if it looks clean.
- Peel the decal off its backing sheet slowly. Check that the vinyl lifts away with the clear transfer film. If any part stays on the backing sheet, ease it along by hand.
- Position the decal in the indent and get it as square as you can before pressing it down. Line up one piece accurately and the rest will follow. If you are not tall enough to look straight at the pillar, stand on a stool so your eyes are level with the emblem.
- Press the decal into place with your fingers. No tools are needed.
- Work the vinyl down into the embossed detail. If it resists, peel the clear transfer film back a little as you go. This releases the tension the carrier puts on the vinyl and lets it conform to the shape.
- Once the outer pieces are down, lay the film back over and finish pressing the smaller sections in the same way.
- Peel the clear transfer film away completely.
- Go over the decal with firm, even pressure using your finger or a clean cloth.
The satin black decal is harder to release from the carrier sheet than the gloss yellow, so peel it back extra slowly and help the vinyl along if it wants to stay on the backing.
In warm weather the vinyl is flexible and any small crease smooths straight out. If you are applying in cooler conditions, warm the vinyl with a hair dryer to relax it.
