Installing the PPF Door Sill Protectors

Install in temperate conditions, between 60°F and 80°F (16°C and 27°C).

1. Fill the supplied soap solution bottle with water to make up the slip solution.
2. Identify your pieces. The front pieces are marked L and R in the film and are handed, so check which side you have before you start. The rear pieces are the same on both sides.
3. Clean the sill area. You can use soap or the slip solution itself, sprayed on and wiped off with a rag. The surface needs to be clean, as any dirt trapped under the satin film shows up as a small bubble.
4. Wash your hands before handling the film.
5. Spray the sill area liberally with slip solution.
6. Peel the backing off the film, working along its length and spraying the adhesive side with slip solution as you go. Spraying the film means it can be pulled apart again if it sticks to itself.
7. Lay the piece onto the sill in its T shape: the two extended end strips protect where the body rotates, and the main section covers the sill face. Do not stretch the film. Use your fingertips to feel it into place up against the point where the body turns, and let the end strips lay down on their own.
8. Once you are happy with the position, start at the top and squeegee left, then right, using the felt side of the squeegee. The felt side drags the film around less than the rigid side. No heat is needed.
9. Work down over the turn, bringing the squeegee down in strokes so that no fluid is trapped on the curve.
10. Work the end strips down last. Use your fingers together with the squeegee to rotate them into position and push the remaining fluid out.
11. Check the surface. Small bubbles are trapped slip solution; a larger bump or blemish is a bigger pocket of it. Work these out now with the squeegee and your fingertips, as they cannot be removed once the film has set.
12. If an edge keeps lifting, there is still too much slip solution underneath. Either leave the door open for a couple of hours and let it dry, then lay the film back down, or use a hair dryer on high heat or a heat gun on low heat to evaporate the solution and make the film more flexible.
13. Dry the area off with your rag.
14. Repeat for the rear door on the same side, then for the front and rear doors on the other side.
15. There is a weld seam on each door frame that the film will stand up over during installation. Leave it. Do not worry about a gap along that seam, or about edges that lift slightly. If you see a problem off to the side of the seam, fix that now.
16. The next day, run your finger down the seam toward the edge to push any remaining fluid out of the bottom, then push upward along the seam toward the top. This settles the film flush over the seam. Do this on the front and rear doors on both sides.

If a bubble is left in the middle of the film after it has set, you can release it with a very fine needle, or replace the piece.
