How long does it last?
Similar to ceramic coating, the hydrophobic layer typically lasts 4–6 months depending on driving conditions. A quick wipe with a clean lens cloth will help restore and extend its effectiveness. Frequently Asked Questions
❓ How does the superhydrophobic coating work?
The surface uses micro and nano-scale structures combined with a fluoropolymer coating to create tiny air pockets that cause water droplets to bead up and roll off. This is similar to the natural "lotus effect" seen on certain plant leaves, making the surface both water-repellent and self-cleaning. More details on our main FAQ here.
❓ How will I know how long it will last on my car?
The rear of your vehicle is one of the harshest environments for any coating — road debris, dirt, and airborne particles constantly impact the surface. Over time, these contaminants fill the micro-nano structures and reduce effectiveness. Your local air quality is a good indicator: areas with consistently good AQI can expect 4–6 months, while areas with poorer air quality may see closer to 3 months.
❓ Does it interfere with Autopilot or FSD?
Absolutely not. The cover is optically transparent and and supports the full field of vision from the rear camera.
❓ How can I extend the life of the cover?
Gently clean it regularly with a lens wipe or soft lens cloth with isopropyl alcohol. Avoid getting car wax on the camera cover, and do not apply aftermarket coatings like Rain-X — the patented 9-step manufacturing process cannot be replicated, and other treatments will reduce its lifespan.
