Solve FSD "Camera Visibility Limited" Errors!

If you ever engage FSD in the rain or wet road conditions at highway speeds, then you'll be familiar with error messages like this:

Solve the issue forever with our RepeaterShields!

Our Design Approach

It's the first thing people ask about. Aesthetically, a softer shape that followed the curve of the repeater housing would blend in better. We know, because that's what we built first, but it doesn't work.

Water clings to a curved surface and follows it around, and where it ends up is back on the lens, which is the exact thing we set out to stop - this is the exact problem Tesla introduced with their HW4 camera design. Flat faces and a hard edge make the water break away and leave the car instead. Every rounded prototype we road-tested moved less water clear of the lens at highway speed.

So the angles aren't a styling choice, they're the mechanism, and intentional. We'd rather sell you something that keeps your cameras clear in a downpour than something that photographs well in a dry driveway.

You can view all of our testing videos showing how incredibly effective RepeaterShields are here.

Frequently Asked Questions

❓How do RepeaterShields work?

They entirely use the aero-effect of the car to efficiently direct rain and grime away from your repeater cameras. The covers ensure your side repeater cameras always remain clear, regardless of the weather, in turn ensuring optimal FSD performance. They are most effective at highway speeds, where the aero-effect is more pronounced.

❓Are RepeaterShields necessary?

While Tesla FSD has the ability to work with a limited ability through inclement weather and camera occlusions, the peace of mind and confidence of the FSD user is increased when FSD is making decisions based on a perfectly clear view. “If you can see, FSD can see”.

❓Will RepeaterShields affect any camera’s view?

They are designed to protect the Repeater Cameras to the fullest extent possible, while not encroaching the field of view of the cameras.

❓Will it work for my Tesla?

If you have a Hardware 4 (aka AI4) vehicle, then yes. That includes all Refreshed Model 3 & Y (Juniper & Highland), and later-year (generally May 2023 onwards) Original Model Ys that shipped with HW4. If you're not sure, check here.

❓I have a HW3 Model 3/Y, can I use this product?

No; the HW3 cameras already have enough of an aero-effect to negate most of the benefits of RepeaterShields.

❓How do I install RepeaterShields?

Each set ships with a link to a simple video guide, as well as two installation templates to aid with alignment. Installation is extremely easy, and should only take a minute or two per side.

❓Will this void my Tesla warranty?

Absolutely not. Under the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act, a manufacturer cannot void your warranty simply for using an aftermarket product.

❓Can I use a car wash?

Yes, but the 3M VHB tape needs a minimum of 7 days to fully cure. This waiting period is important to allow the adhesive to fully cure and bond with your car's paint, so please avoid car washes for a week following installation.

❓How long will RepeaterShields last, and can they be removed?

Essentially, forever! Unless there's a minor fender-bender that causes one of them to be detached, they should stay in place forever. Should you want to remove them, you can use some fishing line (nylon line) and gentle heat from a hair dryer or heat gun to break the adhesive seal.
